Which team will generate the most energy with a self-built wind turbine?

Construction plans ready? Let's start building! The towers, made of metal construction materials, are indeed based on a model. However, each team determines the design of the blades themselves: the gradation of the angle of the blades, the amount of surface area, and the attention to precision and balance. In short: Green and challenging! Which team will build the best wind turbine and generate the most energy?


Effective design

The first phase of this program is the design phase. A large part of the construction is on 3D construction drawing. That part is the same for every team. But it is precisely the rotating parts - the windmill blades - that have to be designed by the team itself. Variables are possible in length, width, shape, area and direction of the wick. Which team has the most effective design?


Huge wind machine

In the final, in a fixed time unit, the teams must park the mobile windmill in front of the wind machine, switch on the wind machine, then generate as much energy as possible using wind energy and have as many revolutions as possible in a freewheel. Each mill drives a dynamo with the blades. Who provides the highest peak measurement in mV. Which team will win the Sustainable Energy Challenge?

This activity requires cooperation, problem-solving skills and perseverance. You will not solve the energy transition, but this is a team activity with a green story at 'hurricane force'!
